Consultation – Local Cycling Walking Infrastructure Plans
We want to let you know that we have launched a consultation asking residents to give us their views on our proposed safer, greener, healthier walking and cycling networks (LCWIPs – Local Cycling Walking Infrastructure Plans) in Buckhurst Hill – Loughton-Chigwell, Clacton – Jaywick, Dovercourt – Harwich, Maldon and Waltham Abbey.
The consultation has now been launched and will run to the 13th October 2024. We particularly want to hear from residents about whether the routes provide the right local links and whether there are any important routes not shown.
LCWIPs are designed to create a network of sustainable, interconnected linking routes which enable more walking and cycling. They ensure a long-term approach is taken for planning future investment and are reviewed approximately every three years as part of the Government’s Gear Change strategy. By identifying key routes and then installing high quality infrastructure, we hope that residents will have the confidence to use these routes, thereby unlocking the potential to improve their health and wellbeing, decrease air pollution and congestion as well as boosting local economy.
